ORIGIN / THE MISSING MINUTE
Iona Vale restores damaged memories in a room above the lower-market ventilation shafts. She does not promise truth. She promises to preserve what remains: a voice without a face, a doorway without an address, the smell of rain attached to no recognisable street.
Her archive keeps a physical copy of every accepted fragment. During the interruption, one cylinder appears in a drawer she locked herself. Its intake label carries tomorrow’s date. Inside is a view of Platform Nineteen from a height no human observer could have occupied.
The recording lasts sixty-one seconds. At the end, four figures stand beneath a broken sign. One of them is Iona. She has not left the archive all night.
